Oooooeeeee, you fancy huh? But, uh, chia seed caviar? Does anyone even want that? This is something none of us knew we wanted. Most likely there wasn’t a void that needed to be filled, however, this experiment ended in success and people want to try it! Personally, I have never tried the real thing, but this recipe is perfect. It’s incredibly easy, it looks the part, is very low in calories and filled with nutrients. Be sure to plate it properly to further impress your guests.
1 cup water
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ teaspoon fresh ginger
1 sheet of sushi nori
¼ cup chia seeds
Chives, for serving
In a medium bowl, combine water, soy sauce, and ginger. Whisk together until combined. Using your hands, rip apart the nori into small pieces and add to the liquid ingredients. Place the mixture in the blender and puree until smooth and well combined.
Add chia seeds. Stir until combined. Set aside for 1-2 hours until the chia seeds have absorbed the liquid and have grown in size. Drain! This is a very important step, otherwise your “caviar” will be dripping off the sour cream, off the cracker, and onto unwanted territory. Not only does that sound disgusting, it looks even worse. Don’t forget to drain.
Serve your chia seed caviar on crackers topped with sour cream and sprinkled with chives.
